John Adams, Composer-in-Residence

The Colorado Music Festival welcomes legendary composer and conductor John Adams as its 2022 composer in residence. This season celebrates not only John’s own groundbreaking music but also the music of many others he has influenced.

Composer, conductor, and creative thinker – John Adams occupies a unique position in the world of American music. His works, both operatic and symphonic, stand out among contemporary classical compositions for their depth of expression, brilliance of sound, and profoundly humanist nature of their themes. In 2003, Adams was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Music.
