Violinist Sunho Kim joined the Kansas City Symphony Orchestra in 2008 as a section second violinist, but a month later she won the Assistant Concertmaster position. From 2005-08 she was a fellow at the New World Symphony (NWS) where she regularly served as a concertmaster under Michael Tilson Thomas and performed in the NWS Chamber Music Series. As a soloist, Ms. Kim has performed with the Estonian Symphony, Danish Free Mason, Korean Symphony, Seoul Youth Chamber, Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, and gave solo performances in Italy, Germany, Denmark, Great Britain, Czech Republic, South-Korea and the United States. As a devoted chamber musician, she has performed at the Colorado Music Festival, the Yellow Barn Chamber Music Festival, Savonlinna Music Academy, the Smithsonian American History Museum and the Shanghai International Music Festival. She has won numerous awards including the first prize at the International Heino Eller Competition in Tallinn, Estonia, Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra Young Artist Audition, the Bales Violin Competition in Boston, and was a finalist at the International Wieniawski Violin Competition in Lublin.
