Yumi Sagiuchi Shultz has been a member of the Bergen Philharmonic in Norway since 2012. She received her bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University under the tutelage of Roland and Almita Vamos and attended graduate school at New England Conservatory where she studied with Kim Kashkashian. She was a New World Symphony fellow from 2009-2012 and has been a substitute for the New York Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony, and Boston Symphony. While a student in Boston, she was principal viola of the Boston Civic Symphony and soloist with the Brockton Symphony. She was also featured as soloist with the Northwestern University Symphony in Walton’s viola concerto and Harold in Italy.

Yumi has attended summer festivals at Tanglewood, Aspen, Kneisel Hall, Music Academy of the West, Pacific Music Festival, Weathersfield, and Killington, as well as the London Masterclass and New York String Seminar.
