Jueves, julio 16, 2026 | 7:30 pm America/Denver
“Pianist Yuja Wang is a dazzler,” claims Cleveland Classical. “She has a way of dressing, of taking the stage, and of bowing that bespeaks confidence and star quality.” In her Festival debut, Wang plays Barber’s Pulitzer Prize-winning Piano Concerto, a spectacular rainbow of sound. Music Director Peter Oundjian leads Bernstein’s vibrant Symphonic Dances from West Side Story, as well as short works from Prokofiev and Saint-Saëns.

She has performed with the world’s most venerated conductors, musicians, and ensembles, and is renowned not only for her virtuosity but also for her spontaneous and lively performances, famously telling The New York Times, “I firmly believe every program should have its own life, and be a representation of how I feel at the moment.” Yuja began piano at six, training in Canada and at the Curtis Institute under Gary Graffman. Now one of the world’s leading artists, her recordings have earned five GRAMMY nominations, a 2023 GRAMMY win, and an Opus Klassik Award. Recent projects include collaboration with David Hockney, play-direct tours with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, a duo recital tour with Víkingur Ólafsson, and a residency with the New York Philharmonic. In 2025-26, Wang opens the San Francisco Symphony and Philadelphia Orchestra seasons, appears at Carnegie Hall performing and directing Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1, tours Europe with the Swedish Radio Orchestra, performs with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Cleveland Orchestra, and Rotterdam Philharmonic, continues Mahler Chamber Orchestra tours, and presents an Asian recital tour.
