IN HONOR OF MARION KREITH
Celebrated for his “imagination, devotion and supreme musicianship” (Los Angeles Times), Jeffrey Kahane is in the fifth decade of an expansive and eclectic musical career. As a pianist, conductor, and scholar, his career highlights run the gamut from concertos with the New York Philharmonic and San Francisco Symphony, to recitals with Yo-Yo Ma and Joshua Bell and European tours at the podium of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, along with countless lectures and artistic collaborations. Kahane is the founder and music director of a new orchestra, Harmonium of Texas. He previously led the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra for 20 seasons, touring internationally and launching new programming. He has premiered works by composers including Kevin Puts and Andrew Norman, and performed Gabriel Kahane’s Heirloom. He also served nine seasons as Music Director of the Sarasota Music Festival and teaches and coaches at the USC Thornton School of Music.
Maximilian Morel is a New York–based trumpeter active as both a soloist and orchestral musician. He is a prizewinner at numerous international competitions, including the National Trumpet Competition of France, the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory Competition, the Jeju International Brass Competition, the Roger Voisin Competition, and the Girolamo Fantini Competition. He holds the principal trumpet position with the American Ballet Theatre Orchestra and regularly performs with leading ensembles such as the Orchestra of St. Luke’s, New York City Ballet Orchestra, Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, and Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. He is also on faculty at The Juilliard School, where he teaches Ear Training and Music Theory in the Extension and Pre-College divisions.
