Mozart: Haffner, Night Music & More

July 26, 2026 | 6:30 pm America/Denver
Music Director Peter Oundjian begins this all-Mozart marvel with a mysterious serenade for winds, which broods before turning suddenly buoyant. At the keyboard for Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 20 is Tony Siqi Yun, a nuanced performer who plays with “every note personalized” (Musical America). Closing this revel of Mozart’s genius is his Haffner Symphony, a staggering work of energy and invention.

The Canadian-born pianist Tony Siqi Yun, Gold Medalist at the First China International Music Competition (2019) and awarded the Rheingau Music Festival’s 2023 Lotto-Förderpreis, is quickly becoming a sought-after soloist and recitalist. At the age of 23, he has been hailed as a “poet of the keyboard” (Pianist Magazine), and The Philadelphia Inquirer noted his thrilling performance and “interpretive flashes that point to an emergent big personality: moments of grandness or deep expressivity.” The 2025–26 season includes appearances with Orchestre Métropolitain, Louisville, Las Vegas, and Lincoln symphonies, alongside recital debuts at Wigmore Hall, Concertgebouw, Flagey, and Harrogate, and returns to Vancouver, Ghent, and China (Beijing and Hangzhou). Tony also debuts at Ravinia and the Aspen Music Festival, performing Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 with Xian Zhang.
