Peter Oundjian: Updates on the 2021 Festival

February 4, 2021
Watch our video or read the transcript below for a special message from Music Director Peter Oundjian regarding the 2021 Colorado Music Festival.

Peter Oundjian: Hello everybody, I’m Peter Oundjian, Music Director for the Colorado Music Festival, and it gives me enormous pleasure to let you know that we will indeed be having a music festival at Chautauqua Auditorium this summer, the summer of 2021. Last year was fantastic for me — I learned so much about many friends of mine, many colleagues, great musicians, in putting together that Virtual Festival, and I am so glad that so many of you were able to catch that online. In fact, because of that, we are going to be livestreaming several of our concerts this summer.

We have a wonderful lineup for you, which I will tell you all about when the announcement comes on March 16th, but in the meantime be ready for a brand new chamber series, which we were intending to launch last summer but that we will now absolutely launch this summer, the Robert Mann Chamber Series — Robert Mann [was] the great first violinist of the Juilliard Quartet for many, many years, fifty years I believe.

We will also have Music of Today, an entire week of music by living composers, including several world premieres, so I hope very much you will be determined, as we all are, to come back into Chautauqua Auditorium and enjoy live music again for the first time in so long. We’ve all missed the opportunity of making music, of sharing music with music lovers, and we’re looking forward to this immensely.
