Jean Posekany

After studying the piano and violin for 15 years, Jean discovered her true passion for playing the double bass at the age of twenty. She was awarded a full scholarship from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Bass Performance. Jean continued to master her musical skills as the recipient of a full graduate scholarship from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. Jean has won positions in several orchestras including the Hong Kong Philharmonic, the Malaysian Philharmonic, the New World Symphony, and in 2021 she was invited to fill the bass position for the Phantom of the Opera World Tour. Currently, Jean lives in Michigan where she is an active freelancer, playing regularly with the Toledo Symphony and the Detroit Opera. She also keeps busy playing in the Broadway show pits of the Fisher, Wharton and DeVos Theaters. She spends her summer months in Boulder, Colorado performing as a member of the Colorado Music Festival Orchestra.
