Peter Wilson

Peter Wilson was born in Philadelphia, PA and began his percussion studies at the age of 6. After completing his studies with Alan Abel at Temple University, he moved to the New York City area. Since 2002 Peter has performed frequently in the US and abroad with the New York Philharmonic and the Philadelphia Orchestra, and appears on recordings with both groups. Since 2007 he has been the principal timpanist of the Colorado Music Festival in Boulder. He also serves as timpanist in the Harrisburg and Albany Symphonies. As a freelancer in the New York City area, he has also been Principal Percussionist with the Martha Graham Dance Company, and performed with the American Symphony Orchestra, New York Pops, Mark Morris Dance Company, Manhattan Philharmonic, the Berkshire Bach Society, and many others.

He is a mediocre cyclist who enjoys exhausting rides in the Rockies each summer, a maker of excellent home espresso drinks, a bit of a foodie, and an owner of three cats, though he insists there is nothing odd about this.
